My next blog post will be on my favorite game chronicle of all time. Assassins Creed has one of the best story lines and in depth characters that have graced consoles of this day and age. I’ll be writing on the first game since I don’t want to spoil anything. In this game you play as Altair Ibn-La’Ahad or just Altair which is easier to say. At the beginning of the game he is stripped of his rank and title in the Assassins order. Through the game he is fooled and led to believe in false pretenses. In some way we can all relate to that.
In the beginning of the game Altair is stripped of his rank and powers as I mentioned above. He deserves this because he exposed the Assassins order and didn’t listen to the laws of the assassin’s creed. Now anyone can relate to this because everyone has broken at least one rule in their lives and had major or minor consequences to deal with. Now the time period the game took place in wasn’t as harsh as today. If you took someone’s life nobody would do anything unless they wanted to. The ‘police’ of the time period were corrupt and could be easily bribed. Not all of them were like that but the ones you encounter in the game are.
In the game Altair gets shown the error of his ways. Because of his pride fullness he risked his comrade’s lives and revealed the location of the headquarters of the assassins order. Altair’s master, Al Mualim, shows him how to be humble and demotes him. Doing this though he chose a rather extreme method. He mock kills Altair to prove a point. I haven’t personally been stabbed but I cant imagine the pain someone goes through. Altair is “reborn” in a fashion and begins again in the order. This could be a valuable lesson to some people now a days and people should learn to be humble and less arrogant and prideful.
Altair is a character that can be learned from even if he is a fictional character. Life in the days he “lived” in were a simpler time but also a more violent and frightening time. There were rich people who went on crusades. Then there were poor peasants. The assassins showed pity on the poor and both protected them and helped them in many ways. That is what should be done today. We should help one another whenever possible. The Assassins in the game have a maxim they live by. “Nothing is true, everything is permitted”. This is a very interesting thing to say, though is makes sense for the assassins way of life.
Though i havent played the game i thought that the story line for it was fonamal. I completly agree with the way that you think. If everyone helped one another we would al be able to benift from it. I also think that it would do some people some good to see the "error of their ways."
